Introducing RapidRoof – the 20 minute roof curing system

RapidRoof and Maxiflow in Chester

Maxiflow are proud to announce that we are bringing RapidRoof to our customers in Cheshire and the North West, an amazing new roof curing system that lives up to its name!

RapidRoof is a a durable resin-based waterproofing solution for roofs and walkways. A fresh coat is applied cold, using brushes and rollers, and can dry in as little as 20 minutes!

Traditional curing methods, such as tar, can take up to 24 hours to set, with unpleasant, lingering smells and noisy machinery as part of the package. The speedy RapidRoof system means that a whole roof could be waterproofed in a mere fraction of the time, without the assault on your senses!

RapidRoof Anti-skid roof walkway coating

A huge advantage of RapidRoof is that it is designed to be walked upon. It can be finished with an hard-wearing, anti-skid coating, making it an ideal surface for roofs that have foot traffic. RapidRoof can be used to waterproof balconies, walkways or any other pathway that sees frequent footfall.

Introducing the Maxiflow Accesswatch scheme

The Maxiflow Accesswatch Scheme Logo - With Text

We are proud to announce the launch of the Maxiflow Accesswatch scheme!

A few weeks ago, we were contacted by a representative of Chester Accessibility Action Group. We were asked if we could provide ongoing information regarding the scaffolds that we erect in and around Chester, in order to keep their members informed about the potential access problems that scaffolds can cause.

We thought that this was a great idea, and recognised that it could be beneficial to a lot of people. So, we expanded the remit to incorporate any of our works that could impact access, and have started to keep a public record of these jobs.

Introducing the Maxiflow Accesswatch scheme. It incorporates a simple ‘traffic light’ system, informing users whether each job is scheduled, ongoing or completed. You can filter the notifications by their current status, or by the type(s) of work they involve. For example, you can click here to view all of the scaffold notifications.

You can sign up to email updates, which group new notifications into daily digests, or you can keep up-to-date with the Accesswatch RSS feed. We will also be posting updates to our Twitter account.

If you have any feedback or questions about Accesswatch, feel free to contact us at accesswatch@maxiflow.co.uk.

New lead theft in Northwich

Northwich lead theft

We have covered several prominent lead thefts on this blog in the past, including locations such as the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port, St. Mary’s Centre in Chester and Neston Civic Hall. For a while, it seemed like we were getting called out to a new lead theft every week, with the thievery growing more audacious with each case, culminating in the theft of the Willaston War Memorial Plaque (covered in publications such as the Telegraph), and its subsequent restoration.

Recently, a new lead theft was reported at a building in Northwich. The half-timbered building’s protective lead flashings were callously ripped out, damaging the surrounding slates and leaving sections of the roof exposed. It has been a good number of months since we last investigated a metal theft, so we hope this isn’t the start of a new trend.

Maxiflow passes CompetentRoofer audit with flying colours!

NFRC CompetentRoofer Audit

We at Maxiflow are proud to report that we have passed our latest CompetentRoofer audit! CompetentRoofer is a scheme run by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), which allows for roofing companies such as ourselves to self-certify on renovation and repair work.

Our most recent audit was conducted at domestic property in Frodsham, where we re-tiled the roof and installed new roofline (including fascia boards and soffits). The CompetentRoofer representative who conducted the audit, Kelvin Edwards, was complimentary of the high standard to which our work was finished, and remarked on how neat and tidy the site was kept.

We would like to thank Mr. Edwards for his time. We will strive to maintain the quality and efficiency that befits a proud member of the CompetentRoofer scheme!

Prevent collapsing chimneys with a free Maxiflow roof inspection

Chimney inspections from Maxiflow in Chester

A chimney in poor condition, discovered by a Maxiflow roof inspection

A recent story in the Chester Standard reported on the collapse of a chimney stack in Talbot Street onto a parked car. Luckily, nobody was injured in this accident, but similar stories from across the country show that people are not always so fortunate.

Inadequately supported chimneys are a real public hazard, as they are a potential danger to both the home-owner and passing pedestrians. When a roof is compromised, it is often obvious to the home-owner as they can see the effects of leaks from inside. However, a damaged chimney is much harder to spot without spending regular time on your roof, which not something we recommend!

As with any structure, chimneys are subject to weathering over time. These problems can be very subtle and are certainly not visible from ground level. As an example, in the picture above you can see that the lead flashings have started to peel away from the chimney stack and there are indications that the chimney is starting to lean forwards. Another issue with this chimney is that too many aerials and satellite dishes have been attached to it without adequate bracing, adding extra unsupported weight to one side of the structure.

For a professional and comprehensive inspection of your roof, contact Maxiflow Roofing in Chester for a FREE roof consultation. With over 25 years’ experience in domestic and commercial roofing, we can check the condition of your roof, down to the smallest details. No matter the size of your property or the age of your roof, regular inspections are important for your personal safety, security and peace of mind.

Contact Maxiflow Roofing Services today and our free roof inspection will ensure that your chimney stays in place and your roof remains in one piece. Or call us on 01244 343563 for free advice and guidance if you need to talk about any of the issues presented in this post.
