Maxiflow win Considerate Constructors Silver Award 2014

Considerate Constructors Silver Award 2014

We at Maxiflow Ltd are proud to announce that we have won a Silver Award at Considerate Constructors’ National Company Awards 2014!

This marks the third year in a row in which Maxiflow have won an award from the UK’s leading regulatory body for the construction industry. In 2013 we received a Bronze Award, and last year we won both a Gold Award and the top prize of the ceremony – The Most Considerate Company Award 2013.

The awards were once again held at the prestigious Plaisterers Hall at One London Wall. We appreciated the opportunity to catch up with some of our friends and peers in the construction industry, as our volume of work tends to prevent us from hobnobbing!

We were also honoured to see our Most Considerate Company Award win from last year prominently featured at the ceremony, including on this banner:

We would like to sincerely thank all of our clients for providing us with the opportunities and support that make our continuing success possible, and in particular we would like to thank Cheshire West & Chester Council and Norland Managed Services. We will continue to strengthen and grow as a company and hope to recapture the gold next year!

Another excellent monitoring visit from Considerate Constructors!

Maxiflow has enjoyed a productive partnership with Considerate Constructors since registering with the scheme in 2009. We were extremely proud to be declared the Most Considerate Company 2013 in addition to picking up a Gold Award at their National Company Awards last November.

We have written on this blog about previous years’ site reports and the positive feedback we have received from the company’s monitoring team. So it was nice to start 2014 with another highly positive Monitoring Report!

In partnership with Norland Managed Services, Maxiflow has been carrying out the refurbishment of several floors in Goldsmith House, one of Cheshire West & Chester‘s office buildings in Chester city centre.

Once again the company’s high standards of performance are evident throughout the project.

Considerate Constructors’ Site Monitor

Considerate Constructors’ site evaluations are based upon five key factors, namely: Enhancing the appearance of the site, respecting the community, protecting the environment, securing everyone’s safety and caring for the workforce. Quotes from the monitoring report related to these key points are reproduced below:

The site has good signage on the entrance to the building & also directional signage on a lamppost leading to the site; signage was colourful & clear & includes various organisational logos including the 2013 Most Considerate Company logo. The only visible external signs of building work was a skip in the car park, which was neatly protected by double clipped heras fencing. Operatives all appeared smart & wore company branded hi vis plus company branded tops.

All CCS signage & stickers in position & the company has ensured that all are aware of the Scheme & also the fact that the company won Gold & the most Considerate Company award in 2013. All operatives are direct employees and are well aware of general behavioural requirements. The company has noted roof damage on a neighbours property & has taken photographs & informed the owner. Company has fixed a couple of flags outside the building.

The company has an environmental policy & the main contractor has prepared a SWMP; there is actually very little waste arising. […] The site is only a couple of miles from the company headquarters & uses company vans which are monitored regarding fuel use & carbon emissions.

Norland have carried out two H&S inspections to date & Maxiflow have their own arrangements. All operatives are local & the location of the nearby A&E is well known to all […] Appropriate fire evacuation procedures in place & site has own muster point. Excellent example of high quality dust mask being used when cleaning up waste from broken screed.[…] All accidents recorded, none to date.

The company has a very supportive regime & has recently completed a series of staff appraisals; a number of training courses are being organised […] The company also deserves credit for the assistance they have given to a scaffolding sub contractor in obtaining appropriate qualifications. Medical conditions & contact details held & the offer is made for all operatives to obtain a flu jab. All have CSCs cards.

Overall, the report was extremely positive and offered constructive suggestions for future improvements. We hope to have more details about our works at Goldsmith House in the future.

We would like to thank Considerate Constructors’ monitoring team, Norland Managed Services and Cheshire West and Chester for their time and work in making this report possible.

Maxiflow wins Most Considerate Company 2013 at Considerate Constructors National Company Awards

Considerate Constructors National Company Awards 2013 Maxiflow Certificates and Trophy

We at Maxiflow are extremely proud to announce that we have won TWO prestigious awards at the Considerate Constructors 2013 National Company Awards.

We have been declared Considerate Constructors’ Most Considerate Company 2013, in addition to receiving a Gold Award!

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is dedicated to improving the image of the construction industry in the UK. The scheme works alongside hundreds of companies nationwide, engaging its members in an ever-evolving conversation about public responsibility. The scheme has had great success helping companies to fully realise their responsibilities to worksites and their neighbours.

Considerate Constructors Most Considerate Company 2013 Trophy and Certificate

Maxiflow has been registered with the scheme since 2009, and we have enjoyed a succession of positive audits and site inspections from the organization over the years. This year, Considerate Constructors praised Maxiflow for the “culture of support for the community [that] runs throughout the company”. We consider this sentiment to reflect aspects of our company such as our recently-launched Accesswatch scheme, which aims to keep members of the public informed about our access-impairing works.

At the 2012 National Company Awards, we won a Bronze Award, which was a great source of pride for everyone in the company. In a statement following that win, Maxiflow Contracts Director Warren Beatty declared that “[We] are aiming for a Gold Award next year!”. This was an ambitious assertion, given the relatively small size of our company, a family-run company from Chester, compared to some of our competition. We returned to Plaisterers’ Hall at One London Wall for this years’ ceremony with a realistic hope that we could match our previous achievement. Naturally, we were blown away when they announced our name for both awards.

In a statement, Maxiflow Managing Director Kevin McLeod has said:

All of us at Maxiflow consider winning a Gold Award and being named Most Considerate Company to be incredible achievements. We are truly honoured to have been considered as contenders for both awards, and the fact that we took home double gold is astounding. I would like to personally thank Warren for his dedication, his motivational skills and for being the driving force behind the works that have earned these honours. I would also like to thank each and every member of our team for the daily, ongoing commitment that has produced such amazing results. This win instils us with great confidence in our direction as a company, and is a confirmation that our community-focussed approach is one of our greatest strengths.

Kevin McLeod, Maxiflow Managing Director

In a statement on their website, Considerate Constructors said the following about Maxiflow:

Although this was a particularly short duration project, the company demonstrated its real commitment to delivering a quality product to considerate standards. The work area was particularly restrictive, but the insertion of a discrete door lock to prevent dementia-suffering day care patients inadvertently entering the area was commendable, as was the use of the zipped dust sheet affixed to the door frame. With the addition of innovative directional signs, exceptional cleanliness and a highly co-operative stance, the operation demonstrated that even a small site can do something special.

In addition to the company itself supporting various local organisations, the Scheme Monitor noted several examples of local fund-raising activities carried out by individual employees, showing that the culture of support for the community runs throughout the company. Combined with elements such as supporting staff in gaining additional qualifications and offering a number of health services, this company’s considerate effort was of an exceptionally high level and a great example to the industry of what can be achieved on the smallest projects.

Considerate Constructors Most Considerate Company 2013 Trophy

We would like to thank every one of our clients and affiliates for their work in making this achievement possible, with special thanks extended to Norland Managed Services and Cheshire West and Chester council. We would also like to once again sincerely thank Considerate Constructors for this honour, and we hope to return to the awards next year.

Considerate Constructors’ annual National Company Awards was held on Thursday 29th December 2012, an event which aims to recognise companies “for their hard work and dedication towards improving the image of construction”.

Maxiflow representatives Warren Beatty (Contracts Director) and Barry Cooper (Building Foreman) attended the award ceremony, held at the prestigious Plaisterers’ Hall at One London Wall.

Accepting the award on stage, Mr Beatty gave a short speech thanking his fellow team members for their exceptional hard work and extended his gratitude towards the Considerate Constructors Scheme for their generosity in recognising Maxiflow’s achievements.

The fact that we have earned this award is incredible. We are a family-run, local company who are nowhere near the size or scale of some of the companies accepting awards at this event. Yet, we are being recognised as an equal peer on a national stage. We would like to sincerely thank Considerate Constructors for this award and are aiming for a Gold Award next year!
