Burst water pipe at Clayhill Industrial Park

Maxiflow at Clayhill Industrial Park

Maxiflow’s Drainage Team have sprung into action to stem a tricky issue!

Through our partners at Enterprise PLC, we were called to rapidly respond to a current problem for Dŵr Cymru (Welsh Water) at Clayhill Light Industrial Park in Neston.

An underground water pipe had burst, prompting us to drop everything and jet over to determine where the leak was occurring. Without meandering, we tracked the stream of clues to underneath the car park.

Trying not to cause a splash, we carefully excavated the area and poured our efforts into replacing the pipe.

Bubbling with enthusiasm at a job well done, we waved goodbye after leaving the ground swell once again.

Renovations at Chester Market & The Forum

New Chester Market Stall

Maxiflow have continued to strengthen our partnership with Enterprise PLC, carrying out work for Cheshire West & Chester Council on Chester Market and the council offices at the Forum.

We have constructed a number of new stalls in the Market and refurbished several others. These works are part of a package which is designed to breathe new life into old and unused areas of the Market which have fallen into disuse.

A recent highlight has been our conversion of the former reception area at the Forum offices into an inviting, warm space that can comfortably accommodate visitors. We dismantled the existing reception desk, added a vibrant blue carpet around the desk area and repainted select walls and furnishings in a pastel purple. This exercise added a touch of colour to an area which was formerly quite monochrome and sterile, de-emphasizing the formality of the setting in order to make the entrance more welcoming.

This is an ongoing project, so we will have more to report soon!

Handbridge shop renovations – Phase 2

Residents of Handbridge may have noticed that our scaffolding has crept up the street to Martin’s newsagent! As a follow-up on our previous story and photo gallery of our work at the Handbridge shops, we have begun work on phase 2 of the project.

Residents & businessowners alike are reportedly delighted with the work Maxiflow have completed so far.

This job goes well beyond a fresh coat of paint, involving advanced repairs to timber frames (chopping out defective timber and splicing fresh beams into place), replacing metalwork (including ornate iron gates & frames) and extensive decorative works.

We will keep you updated as work progresses.

Cleaning Widnes Market’s stall roofs

The Maxiflow drainage team have once again helped to clean up a local institution. In partnership with Enterprise PLC, we were contracted by Halton Borough Council to restore the shine to the stall roofs in Widnes Market, which had built up a layer of unsightly dust.

The team washed every single roof canopy in the building – over 80 stalls in total! The job required manual handwashing, so scaffolds were erected to gain safe access to the tricky-to-reach awnings.

Update on lead theft at Neston Civic Hall

Scaffolding at Neston Civic Hall

The damage caused by the lead theft at Neston Civic Hall has turned out to be worse than first believed.

As our followers on Twitter will know, Maxiflow have been working with Enterprise PLC to assess and repair the damage caused by lead-stealing vandals. Several high-profile buildings across the Cheshire area have been targeted by the thieves, including Northwich Library and Chester Cathedral, causing considerable damage.

Neston Civic Hall became a casualty a couple of weeks ago, and we have been examining the scale of the vandalism in order to provide the best solution. The problem was larger than expected, as we found that the timbers have been ripped out, which requires a much more thorough repair job. Our joinery team will be starting first thing Monday morning to repair and replace the roof and we’ll keep you updated on our progress.
